FaZe Rug Horror Film ‘Crimson’ Debuts Trailer, Music, Merchandise Ahead Of Halloween Week Launch

Gaming-focused media company FaZe Clan released key art, a single, a trailer, and merchandise around its first feature-length release, the horror film Crimson, featuring one of its most prominent members, FaZe Rug.

Crimson’s 3:33-minute-long trailer features FaZe Rug (aka, Brian Awadis) moving into a capacious new house, which of course turns out to be next door to a house (and improbably small car) full of very creepy clowns.

The film was directed by Gregory Plotkin of the Paranormal Activity franchise and features producers from the same Blumhouse incubator of low-budget but effective horror features. It’s shot in the same cinema verite’ style of unscripted reality shows, The Blair Witch Project and similar projects.

The project is banking on FaZe Rug’s online prominence (a combined 27 million followers across several platforms), but also includes as “brand sponsors” Beats, Apple
AAPL
, Procter & Gamble
PG
and Old Spice.

FaZe Clan CEO Lee Trink had, in announcing the FaZe Rug venture several weeks ago, hinted that the project would be monetized and marketed in different, more sustainable ways than most traditional Hollywood features.

The film is also being distributed on Invisible’s online-streaming platform, rather than attempting a pricey theatrical release in mid-pandemic. It’s one of a few long-form projects and partnerships that FaZe has announced, and the first to arrive for public consumption.

It being a project from the implacably commerce-minded FaZe, there’s a wad of limited-release Crimson/FaZe-branded merchandise such as hooded sweatshirts, T-shirts, and face masks. The T-shirt and sweatshirt will only be available bundled with preorders of the $9.99 ticket to watch the film, which debuts Oct. 29 on Inviz.TV

The film will feature a soundtrack from Grammy-winning producer/musician Beam, his first collection of new music since his debut, 95. The soundtrack’s first single, Psycho, also released today. The rest of the soundtrack will become available on Oct. 29 with the film.

Here’s the trailer, which already had stacked up nearly 850,000 views on YouTube in its first six hours of release on FaZe Rug’s YouTube channel:
