‘Hannity’ Leads Cable News Ratings But CNN Beats Fox In Key Demo

Fox News Channel’s Hannity was the most-watched show in all of basic cable last week, as coverage of Covid-19 and mass protests over the death of George Floyd pushed the cable news networks to the top three slots of the most-watched networks in both prime time and all day ratings.

With an average total audience of 4.8 million viewers, Hannity finished in first place overall, followed by Tucker Carlson Tonight (4.8 million total viewers). FNC’s The Ingraham Angle had its highest-rated week ever, with a total audience of 4.3 million viewers.

While Fox News led overall with a total audience of 3.978 million viewers in prime time, CNN edged ahead of Fox among viewers 25-54, the demographic group prized by advertisers, with an average audience of 880,000 to FNC’s 792,000. In the key demo, MSNBC finished a distant third with 401,000.

Among total viewers, CNN finished in second place in prime with 2.510 million viewers, followed by MSNBC with 2.266 million, according to ratings data compiled by Nielsen.
