Here Are 3 Netflix Series To Binge If You Loved ‘Firefly Lane’

At the time of this writing, there’s been no official word of a second season for the beloved Netflix
NFLX
drama Firefly Lane. There is, however, quite a bit of speculation circulating the internet. With such a great cliffhanger at the end and the show’s popularity, it’s highly likely fans will get another season to see what divided Tully and Kate. Writing and filming ten new episodes will take some time so what can viewers binge while they wait?

Here are three series, two available for streaming now, and one set to premiere this week, that check all the boxes. Each focuses on the tested bonds between female best friends and in one case, a very unique mother-daughter relationship. Never underestimate the power of love and though there is romance aplenty for these gals, it’s how these women stand by one another that truly stands out.

Sweet Magnolias (One Season, 10 Episodes) – Like Firefly Lane, this series is about lifelong friendship and how you can get through absolutely anything with your besties by your side. In this case, the story revolves around Maddie, Helen and Dana Sue as they lift one another up through some of life’s most difficult challenges. Tag along as the three juggle romantic relationships, family dramas and career challenges in the small Southern town of Serenity. The series is based on the Sweet Magnolias book series by Sherryl Woods and it did so well that Netflix renewed it for a second season and fans cannot wait for it.

Dead To Me (Two Seasons, 20 Episodes) – Real friends know where the bodies are buried because, well, they’re right beside you the entire, dirty and grueling way. Again, this is the story of two best friends and nothing, not even murder, can destroy this bond. Jen (Christina Applegate) and Judy (Linda Cardellini) are forever tied together by death, each killing the other’s man. One thing is certain, as the stakes get higher, this pair sticks together. At the end of the second season, the two appear to be on the road to a somewhat peaceful life and even, perhaps, a fun getaway. Anyone who watches this show knows that nothing will ever be easy for these two. This series is all about surprise and delight. There are definitely a lot of twists and turns but at its heart, this is a story about the friendship between two women that know all the dark parts of one another and remain loyal throughout. Fans are extremely eager for the third 10-episode season, which is set to be the last.

Ginny & Georgia (One Season, 10 Episodes): This YA mother-daughter coming-of-age drama series premieres on February 24 and it is so worth the binge! This one is pure fun and entertainment. The viewer will join a young mother and her two children as they embark on a new adventure. Ginny Miller (newcomer Antonia Gentry) is an angsty and awkward 15-year-old who struggles with her dynamic 30-year-old mother, Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey), whom she feels she doesn’t quite measure up to. Counter to her insecure teen, Georgia is an irresistible force of nature who grew up on the move. She yearns to give her family something she lacked as a child: a normal life. But is this really possible for someone like her? She desperately wants to put down roots in New England but soon comes to learn that life in this picturesque place cannot shield her from her dark and sordid past. This series was helmed by an all-female creative team with first-time creator/executive producer Sarah Lampert, first-time showrunner/executive producer Debra J. Fisher (Alias, Criminal Minds) and director/executive producer Anya Adams (GLOW, Black-ish).
