How To Watch Or Live Stream UFC On ESPN 9 Prelims

The UFC returns to Las Vegas tonight for its first event there since March 7. On Wednesday the Nevada State Athletic Commission gave the promotion the green light to hold the UFC on ESPN 9 fight card, which is headlined by a welterweight bout between Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns, at the UFC Apex.

At the top of the prelim card, former women’s flyweight title challenger Katlyn Chookagian faces Antonina Shevchenko in a 125-pound champion. Shevchenko is the sister of UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.

Chookagian’s most recent fight was for Valentina’s title. The champion successfully defended that belt with a third-round TKO win. The loss put an end to Chookagian’s two-fight winning streak. Chookagian is 6-3 with the UFC and 13-3 in her career. She is the No. 2 ranked fighter in the official UFC women’s flyweight rankings. 

Antonina Shevchenko, who is ranked No. 12 in the women‘s 125-pound weight class, is coming off a second-round technical submission win over Lucie Pudilova in August. That win was a bounce back from her first career loss. In April 2019 Shevchenko dropped a split decision to Roxanne Modafferi. Shevchenko is 8-1 during her MMA career. 

Another fight to keep an eye on during the prelims is the flyweight scrap between Tim Elliott and Brandon Royval. Elliott is a former UFC title challenger and ex-Titan FC champion. He is in the midst of a two-fight losing skid. Elliott’s most recent win was a December 2017 submission victory over Mark De La Rosa. Elliott is in his second run with the UFC. 

Royval is a former LFA flyweight champion. He makes his UFC debut on Saturday. Royval has scored first-round submission wins in his two most recent fights.

UFC on ESPN 9 takes place tonight at UFC Apex in Las Vegas. ESPN will broadcast the entire event. ESPN+ will also stream the fight card.
