In The End, Michael Brockers Returns To The LA Rams

The Los Angeles Rams defensive line got a big boost by welcoming back a familiar face: Michael Brockers.

The Rams thought their free-agent end’s L.A. stint had reached its conclusion once he agreed to a reported deal with the Baltimore Ravens.

But those predicting the demise of L.A.’s line, in the wake of edge rusher Dante Fowler also fleeing the coop, are eating some crow. Brockers is in the L.A. fold thanks to a three-year, $31.5 million contract first reported by the NFL Network.

Brockers’ return became a reality when his physical leading up to him joining the Ravens hit a snag. His troublesome left ankle, the one he injured on Dec. 28 against the Arizona Cardinals, caused too big of a red flag for Baltimore to overcome.

So Brockers is coming home, or at least to the team he spent the first eight years of his career. Brockers broke the news on his Instagram account: “Sorry Ravens But I’m Going, Going, Back Back, To Cali, Cali.”

Brockers produced a career-high 63 tackles last year in the final season of his four-year, $39.6 million deal with the Rams.

L.A., especially on its defense, has been hit hard during the offseason. Safety Eric Weddle retired, linebacker Cory Littleton joined the Las Vegas Raiders, linebacker Clay Matthews was released, cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman signed with the Philadelphia Eagles and safety Marqui Christian went to the New York Jets.

While the Rams signed outside linebacker Leonard Floyd for $10 million, on a one-year pact after him being released from the Chicago Bears, Brockers’ U-turn is an unexpected plus.
