The announcement of re-releases does not come as a surprise because theatre-owners expected it. Especially, owners of single-screen theaters in smaller cities and towns of India had said earlier that non-availability of new films for release would be an additional challenge. “We have had salaries to pay for past six months with no income at all. Even the smallest of business will help us improve the situation at this point,” a theatre-owner had said while informing that they’d run old classics till the time new releases are available.
