Is BTS Releasing Three Albums In 2020?

It’s not even halfway through 2020 and already BTS has landed what will surely end the year as one of the biggest titles. The group’s Map of the Soul: 7, which was released back in February, opened at No. 1 in territories all around the world with sizable sales and stream counts. In the months since, it has continued to perform well, moving an impressive number of units seemingly everywhere and earning special certifications in several places.

That level of success would be enough for most musicians to take the rest of the year off (especially during a time when they can’t tour), but that is definitely not the case when it comes to BTS, who are known to be one of the hardest working and most prolific acts in the world.

The group doesn’t even appear to be satisfied releasing two full-lengths this year. At the moment, it looks like the septet may be on their way to finishing and sharing three proper albums before 2021 rolls around. Here’s a look at all three.

Map of the Soul: 7

As is states above, the first of BTS’s 2020 albums has already been released, and it has left a lasting impact on the history books. The chart-topping title was immediately a massive success from the moment it was released, and in many territories, it is still charting, selling and streaming well every frame.

Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~

While BTS is primarily known for performing in Korean, they have also released a number of albums in Japanese throughout their years together, and now they’re gearing up to give their fans in the Asian country another full-length. The band is sharing the similarly-titled Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~ on July 15, at which point it will likely become a blockbuster in the country.

The title is not composed entirely of new cuts, but rather some of their biggest hits and fan favorites translated into Japanese. The project, something of a compilation, features reworked tracks from several of their past releases, as well as a handful of tunes specific to the effort.

TBA

As if releasing one brand new album of all-original material and then re-recording many popular cuts into another language for a different group of fans wasn’t enough work, BTS is reportedly already hard at work at what will be their next Korean release. While details are scarce (which is typically how the group rolls until they’re completely ready to share details), it sounds like the seven-member vocal group are using this downtime to begin the next chapter, and fans will likely get to hear the as-yet-untitled project by the end of the year.
