Jackson Wang Becomes First Chinese Solo Artist To Debut On Mediabase US Top 40 Radio Chart

Two months after its release, Jackson Wang’s “100 Ways” has become the first song by a Chinese solo artist to debut on Mediabase’s Top 40 radio chart. 

Mediabase, a radio tracking service under iHeartMedia, recognized the song at No. 39 on its weekly Top 40 chart, dated May 24.  

 “I’m so blessed and grateful for the Team Wang members, all my people, & all my supporters,” says Wang, who has a prominent solo career in China and is also a member of K-pop group GOT7. “This means the world to me. It’s another piece of history we made together.  Everyone please, please care and stay safe. I hope I can continue to make you all really proud.  This is just the beginning, let’s continue making history together.”

“100 Ways” was released on March 20, and is distributed by Asian music platform 88rising, which Wang’s production company Team Wang partnered with on for this release.

Though Wang is not American, the feat by a Chinese artist to break into the U.S. chart notably comes at the very end of 2020’s Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month. 

The Top 40 debut of “100 Ways” at No. 39 places it between Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “Rain On Me” at No. 38 and Alec Benjamin’s “Oh My God” at No. 40 on the Mediabase chart. 

Mediabase recognized 997 total plays of “100 Ways” over the week period, with a total audience reaching 1.19 million people. 

Along with being a Top 40 hit, the #100ways challenge racked up over 118 million views on TikTok.
