Jermall Charlo Vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko Live Results, How To Watch, Odds, Records, Prediction

Since arriving at middleweight, Jermall Charlo has been a bit underwhelming. He struggled against Matt Korobov in 2018, and though he’s won all five fights at 160 pounds, he’s never beaten an elite fighter in this weight class. But he’ll get a chance to change that tonight vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko in their Showtime boxing PPV showdown.

Charlo vs. Derervyanchenko headlines the first half of the six-fight card, and along with Jermell Charlo vs. Jeison Rosario in the second half, the night should be filled with action.

“The fans have spoken, and we listened,” Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza said. “Fans wanted the best fighting the best. Well, we’ve got that. Without question, this is not just the biggest PPV card of the year, but there is also the most value for your money on this card. I’ve never been involved with a card that has this level of quality and this level of star power.”

Here’s everything you need to know to watch Charlo vs. Derevyanchenko. And when the PPV begins at 7 p.m. ET, I’ll be here for the first half of the card, giving my round-by-round thoughts, explanations and unofficial scoring.

How to watch Jermall Charlo vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko

The show begins at 7 p.m ET, and it’ll cost you $75 for the six-fight cars. On the Charlo vs. Derevyanchenko half of the event, you’ll also get to see junior featherweight titlist Brandon Figueroa vs. Damien Vazquez and bantamweight titlist John Riel Casimero take on Duke Micah (after a 30-minute intermission, the other half of the PPV includes Charlo vs. Rosario, Luis Nery vs. Aaron Alameda and Danny Roman vs. Juan Carlos Payano—my colleague Peter Kahn is scheduled to live blog that part of the show).

You can buy the show through a traditional cable provider like DirecTV, Dish, Cox, Spectrum or U-Verse. If you’d rather stream it, you can purchase the show and watch it on Showtime.com; Apple or Android mobile devices; or via a streaming device like Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV (4th Gen+), Roku or Xbox One.

Jermall Charlo Vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko odds

Charlo is the slight favorite at -190, meaning you’d have to bet $190 to win $100, while Derevyanchenko is the +145 underdog (earn $145 on a $100 wager). As I wrote about in my boxing odds column, a Charlo decision victory would pay you $105 on a $100 bet, while a Charlo stoppage win is +450. Derevyanchenko, meanwhile, is +260 to win by decision and +550 to win via KO/TKO.

As for the other two fights on this card:

  • Brandon Figueroa (-5000) vs. Damien Vazquez (+1000)
  • John Riel Casimero (-900) vs. Duke Micah (+500)

Jermall Charlo Vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko records

Despite his somewhat lackluster middleweight run, Charlo is still undefeated at 30-0 with 22 KOs. Derevyanchenko has faced the better competition at 160 pounds, but he’s also lost to Gennadiy Golovkin and Daniel Jacobs. He’s currently 13-2 with 10 KOs.

Jermall Charlo Vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko prediction

To me, this is a pick ‘em fight and the bout I’m most excited about on the card. Derevyanchenko will force the fight on Charlo, and it’ll be interesting to see how Charlo responds to the pressure. I thought Derevyanchenko deserved the victory vs. Golovkin, and he very well could score the breakout win of his career vs. Charlo. But I think Charlo has enough skill and firepower to squeak it out. Call it a majority decision victory for Charlo.
