Juice WRLD, Prince, Journey And The Beach Boys: 5 Albums To Watch On The Billboard 200

Greatest hits compilations from some of the most successful and beloved rockers, country stars and even pop musicians continue to live on the Billboard 200 for longer than most regular albums, so it’s no surprise that these titles are typically the ones to rack up impressive stays on the tally…which means eventually they’ll hit notable milestones on the list. That’s the case this week on the list, and likely will be from now on, as catalog titles (meaning those that are a year and a half old or more) typically make up the majority of music consumption in the U.S.

Here are five albums that make big moves on the Billboard 200 chart this week.

No. 20 – Juice WRLD – Legends Never Die

It’s hard to believe that Juice WRLD has now been gone for more than a year and a half, but thankfully, his legacy lives on through his music, including the work that has been released since his passing. The hip-hop musician’s first posthumous album Legends Never Die returns to the top 20 as it reaches its first full year on the Billboard 200, and while another project is surely coming from his estate, fans aren’t done listening to the No. 1 title.

No. 46 – Journey – Journey’s Greatest Hits

Up 20 spaces this frame is Journey’s Greatest Hits, one of the most successful titles of all time on the Billboard 200 and certainly the biggest release from hitmakers Journey. The band’s compilation nearly re-enters the highest quarter of the chart as it hits 676 weeks, or exactly 13 years on the ranking. The set holds as the third-longest-charting effort in U.S. history.

No. 58 – Zac Brown Band – Greatest Hits So Far…

It’s been almost two years since the Zac Brown Band last delivered a full-length, though they do appear to be ramping up to something, as several singles have been shared throughout the past several months. As their followers wait for a proper announcement, they continue to buy and stream the country act’s Greatest Hits So Far… compilation, which celebrates six full years (or 312 weeks) on the Billboard 200 this frame.

No. 82 – The Beach Boys – Sounds Of Summer: The Very Best Of The Beach Boys

Yet another compilation also hits a notable milestone, as these collections are typically the ones that spend the most time on the Billboard 200, understandably. The Beach Boys’s Sounds Of Summer: The Very Best Of The Beach Boys returns to the top half of the ranking this time around as it enters its fifth full year on the tally, as this is its two-hundred-and-sixtieth turn on the list.

No. 176 – Prince and the Revolution – Purple Rain

Later this month, Prince’s estate will release his posthumous album Welcome 2 America, but in advance of that drop, his millions of fans are still consuming one of his most successful projects. Credited to Prince and the Revolution, the Purple Rain soundtrack has now racked up 150 weeks on the Billboard 200. It’s actually a bit surprising that count isn’t higher, as it was released back in the ‘80s, but Billboard had rules in place that kept it from the ranking for a period of time.

Purple Rain earned Prince two of his first Grammys and an Academy Award. It became his first chart-topper on the Billboard 200 and produced the smash hits “When Doves Cry,” “Let’s Go Crazy” and the title track, with the former two going right to No. 1 on the Hot 100.
