Kevin Durant Among Four Brooklyn Nets To Test Positive For Coronavirus

Kevin Durant is among four members of the Brooklyn Nets to test positive for the coronavirus.

“Everyone be careful, take care of yourself and quarantine,” Durant told The Athletic. “We’re going to get through this.”

All told, seven NBA players are now known to have tested positive, including Durant, three other members of the Nets, Christian Wood of the Detroit Pistons and Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz.

The Nets on Tuesday released a statement saying “four Brooklyn Nets players have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

“Of the four, one player is exhibiting symptoms while three are asymptomatic. All four players are presently isolated and under the care of team physicians. 

“The organization is currently notifying anyone who has had known contact with the players, including recent opponents, and is working closely with state and local health authorities on reporting. All players and members of the Nets travel party are being asked to remain isolated, closely monitor their health and maintain constant communication with team medical staff. The health of our players and staff is of the highest priority to the organization and the team is doing everything within its power to ensure that those affected receive the best care possible.

“As always, we appreciate the support of our fans, partners and surrounding community, and we wish all those who are battling this virus a speedy recovery.”

Elsewhere on the NBA front, league sources confirmed the NBA had a brief phone conversation Monday with NCAA officials discussing the upcoming NBA Draft and relevant dates for college underclassmen declaring.

Neither the NBA Draft Combine set for May or the NBA Summer League in July has yet to be canceled, but several league sources said they expect the NBA Draft to be pushed back from June 25 to sometime in July or August due to the coronavirus.
