Lady Gaga’s ‘Chromatica’ Opens At No. 1 In The U.K. With One Of The Largest Debuts Of The Year

Lady Gaga is having quite the year in the U.K., as the British people have once again proved their love for the pop star by consuming her new releases in massive numbers. The singer, songwriter and actress debuts her latest full-length Chromatica at No. 1 in the country this week, earning yet another leader on the all-genre tally.

The title opens atop the list with 53,000 equivalent units.

Chromatica is now Gaga’s fourth No. 1 in the U.K. and her first in seven years. She first led the charge back in 2009 with The Fame, which was also repackaged with her follow-up The Fame Monster, so the two count as one entity in the country. She followed that up in 2011 with Born This Way, and then she nabbed her third champion in 2013 with Artpop.

On top of her four No. 1s in the U.K., Gaga has also scored three additional top 10s, with The Remix, Cheek to Cheek and Joanne landing at Nos. 3, 10 and 3, respectively. The soundtrack she composed and recorded alongside acting partner Bradley Cooper for the film A Star Is Born also went to No. 1, though the Official Charts Company doesn’t count it toward her career total (for some reason). Looking at her entire discography, Gaga has now appeared at No. 1 with five albums and inside the top 10 eight times.

Two singles from Chromatica released in anticipation of the full album appeared in full charted before this frame, with “Stupid Love” lifting to No. 5 while “Rain on Me,” a collaboration with Ariana Grande, opened atop the songs ranking just last week. The tune was the sixth champion for both acts.
