Lee Kun-hee, the ailing chief of the sprawling Samsung empire, has died at the age of 78.
The second-generation heir of South Korea’s largest conglomerate has been in a coma since 2014.
Lee grew Samsung since his founder father, Lee Byung-chull, gave him the reigns since he died in 1987. Lee Kun-hee has been South Korea’s richest man since 2007.
His only son, Jay Y. Lee, has been the de-facto head of Samsung, and has mired in a controversial scandal that has rocked Korea since late 2016.
Lee Kun-hee is most famous for his 1993 meeting when he told his staff to change everything but his wife and kids.
As of today, Lee Kun-hee was worth an estimated net worth of $20 billion.
