Lewis Capaldi Returns To No. 1 In The U.K. As His Debut Album Hits One Year While Future Goes Top Five

After a year of charting, should they even reach that special point, most albums are ready to disappear from a ranking, having lived on the list longer than the vast majority of full-lengths…but that is not the case when it comes to Lewis Capaldi’s debut Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent. The set returns to the top spot this frame as it celebrates its first birthday. The project, which introduced the Scottish singer-songwriter to the world, has now spent 10 nonconsecutive turns on top of the tally.

Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent has now spun off five top 10 hits in the U.K., including two chart-toppers. So far, “Bruises,” “Grace” and “Hold Me While You Wait” have broken into the loftiest tier, while “Someone You Loved” and “Before You Go” have both spent time in the penthouse.

Currently, “Someone You Loved” is still inside the top 40 (at No. 38), “Before You Go” lands just outside the region at No. 42 and “Bruises” steps up to No. 72.

Capaldi leads a top 10 that features three newly-released titles, but none of them made a serious play for the throne.

Down from first place to second is Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia, which, like Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, keeps returning to the No. 1 spot after falling. Back up to No. 3 is Harry Styles’ Fine Line, followed by Drake’s Dark Lane Demo Tapes, which slides to fourth place.

This week’s highest-ranking debut comes from Future, whose surprise new album High Off Life opens at No. 5. The lengthy set is now just his second top 10 in the U.K. and it beats the No. 6 placement of What a Time to Be Alive, his collaborative mixtape with Drake.

Future owns three spots on this week’s singles listing (the most allowed by the Official Charts Company at a time) with tracks featured on High Off Life. First up is “Solitaires” with Travis Scott, which opens at No. 59. Just one rung down, lead single “Life Is Good” with Drake, which once peaked at No. 3, settles at No. 60. “Trillionaire” with YoungBoy Never Broke Again debuts at No. 85.

Just behind Future, fellow hip-hop musician Polo G launches his new full-length The Goat at No. 6. The set isn’t just his first top 10 in the U.K., it marks his first-ever appearance on the albums chart. The title has also produced his second-ever charting single, “Flex,” which features Juice WRLD. The tune opens at No. 91 this time around.

Ed Sheeran’s No.6 Collaborations Project rises to No. 7, followed by Elton John’s Diamonds at No. 8 and Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? at No. 9.

Electro-rock outfit Sleaford Mods collect just their second top 10 album in the U.K. with the retrospective compilation All That Glue, which kicks off its time on the tally at No. 10. The group previously entered the area last year with Eton Alive, which rose as high as No. 9.
