Luxury Resortwear Brand, Worme Schools Us In Silk Clothing

Founded just two years ago by sisters Hannah and Melissa Collett, Worme is the resortwear label you need in your wardrobe.

The duo have been making clothes since they were teenagers, spending summers in warm Catalonia, their mother’s wardrobe of bohemian summery pieces provided all the inspiration that they needed.

Fast forward and their label, which they established in 2018, offers plenty of contemporary, minimal sumptuousness with a collection that combines the girls’ love for elegance and purity.

Think one shoulder dresses (order them right now), high neck blouses, flare trousers and tank tops, and yes, they’re all crafted from the finest silk. A material that has a forever-appeal and so, you’ve guessed it, their brand pays homage to the silkworm.

Felicity Carter: What was your first fashionable memory?

Worme: Our first introduction to luxury fashion was through our god father Adrian Joffe. From a very young age we always knew him and his wife were cool and we were fascinated by them and the history of Comme des Garcons. 

Both of our first jobs were at DSM London and that cemented our love of great design and the importance of quality clothing.

FC: How, when, why did you get into the industry?

W: We have always worked in the industry in some way or another; Melissa as a photography agent and Hannah as a make up artist so turning the skills we had learnt, combined with our love for quality design, inspiration from our mothers wardrobe and the want for easy chic pieces that were effortless, timeless and very well made.

It was a natural progression to turn it all into our own brand and create Worme.

FC: How would you sum up the aesthetic?

W: Moody, strong, feminine and chic.

We always choose powerful models when planning shoots, our Worme girls are what brings our vision to life, we love them all and are always so in awe of them, they work so hard and always look incredible.

FC: What do each of you bring to the label?

W: Hannah designs and takes care of the business side of Worme and Melissa has a very strong sense of the overall look, she visualises the designs in a scene with a clear vision for every shoot and the strong aesthetic and feeling we want to create.

We are very different and always encourage each other’s strengths, we aren’t scared to say when we don’t agree which is so important for developing, as the business grows we are constantly learning from each other.

FC: What is luxury to you?

W: To us, Luxury is quality of design, materials and the time and consideration that goes into the end product. Whether it’s food, hotels, clothing or accessories, luxury is a feeling of something special.

FC: Who is your customer?

W: Every woman with good taste.

FC: What are the cornerstones of your company?

W: Firstly our relationship with each other and our family which is the backbone of the whole company.

Our workforce, the people we work with here in London are vital for turning all our ideas into reality, from our silk supplier to our production manager they are the reason we can make it happen.

Our customers and the service we strive to deliver, especially when it comes to being environmentally conscious and responsible which is really important to us as the business grows.

FC: Which was the first-ever piece that you designed and how did it come about?

W: The first outfit we designed was The kimono and The Standard flare which is still our best seller. We wanted an outfit that we could wear from day to night on holiday or in the city.

it’s just such a great look that can be dressed up or down and can work with so many vibes, trainers, heels, filp flops, over a bikini or out to dinner.

FC: What is on your current mood board?

W: Tom Ford the Gucci years, vintage Halston, 1990s Calvin Klein and as always, Helmet Newton.

FC: Which is your go-to piece?

W: Right now the High neck tank it’s so comfortable, easy and looks great with any bottom, glam or casual.
