metaverse: Your next interview may be on Metaverse – Times of India

CHENNAI: As you attend your next job interview, get ready to enter a virtual lobby, pick the avatar that best represents you and get on a virtual stage to present your CV.
From in-person interviews to Zoom calls and now on to the Metaverse, the age-old recruitment process is seeing a digital shift.
While newage Web3 startups are leading the change, a few conventional technology enterprises are also leveraging AR/VR tech to conduct interviews, organise rewards and recognition programmes, and to engage and bring together teams internally. The companies say it is a way to allow new joiners to experience the technologies these companies are building and also a more immersive and engaging way to bring them together socially after 2 years of remote work.
Social metaverse startup Flam, for instance, has launched OneAbove — a one-ofits-kind walk-in recruitment platform in the metaverse.
With all the features of a regular virtual call, the platform will bring in an additional immersive experience to make it interactive and engaging for potential employees. The interview begins with the candidate clicking on the platform, entering it, and selecting his/her avatar that best represents them from over 45 options. They will be welcomed by the HR representative in a virtual lobby, who will then guide them towards the stage to showcase themselves to the recruiting panel. The shortlisted candidates will then be called for a one-on-one interview round with the department heads in separate private rooms.
Built with an investment of around $50,000 and with a team of 25, the platform can host a meeting of 50 people at the same time. “The idea is to give a first-hand experience of the metaverse concept to all the walk-in candidates and other job aspirants. We wanted to highlight that Metaverse is a genuine value proposition for us and not just PR,” Shourya Agarwal, co-founder and CEO, Flam said.
GuardianLink, an NFT startup, was in the market recently to hire a Metaverse architect, and what better way to validate the techie’s work than be ‘inside’ a space he had constructed. “Many hiring managers view Metaverse as a future for hiring, especially for those starting a job remotely. Team interactions, interviews, finding a new job, meetings and team activities are all virtually and a lot more effective than what is happening currently,” Neeti Sharma, senior VP of HR firm Teamlease, said.
