‘Midsommar’ May Queen Dress Raises $65,000 For COVID-19 Relief

The May Queen dress from Midsommar has sold for $65,000 at a charity auction.

A24, the company behind the movie, has been selling off several iconic props, wardrobe items, and set pieces from a handful of their productions to raise money for New Yorkers impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

Florence Pugh wore the dress during the finale of director Ari Aster’s acclaimed 2019 horror movie that grossed $46.9 million against a $9 million budget.

It wasn’t the only instantly recognizable item from Midsommar that were up for grabs. Elsewhere, the May Queen crown sold for $15,000, the Finishing Mallet sold for $10,000, and the Bear headdress found a new home for $4,750. Money raised by these and other items from the film will go to the FDNY Foundation, the official non-profit organization of the New York City Fire Department.

Several items from Hereditary, Mid90s, and Eighth Grade, have already gone under the virtual hammer raising substantial amounts of money. Still up for grabs are collectibles from The Lighthouse and Uncut Gems.

The Lighthouse starred Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson as two lighthouse keepers, Wake, and Winslow. Bids on the Light from the movie currently stand at $80,000 while the Mermaid carving is at $4,250. Fans of Robert Eggers’ films with more limited budgets might be interested in the USLHE cap, which currently stands at $2,5000, Wake’s pipe where bids have reached $2,000 or the Lighthouse station flag for $1,8000 currently. Proceeds from those sales will go to Food Bank for New York City.

Meanwhile, fans of the Safdie Brothers’ award-winning thriller Uncut Gems also have a few days left to claim memorabilia from that film while raising money for Queens Community House.

The Furby has so far attracted bids of $13,500. Items such as the MJ pendant, final bet bag, and Howie’s treasured 1973 Knicks Championship ring from the movie currently sit at $1,950, $2,000, and $2,000, respectively. Meanwhile, the 2008 Celtics Championship ring currently has a price tag of $2,750 and The Weeknd’s wig could be yours is you can top the current $1,250 bid.

Uncut Gems, which starred Adam Sandler, proved to be a sizable hit for A24 grossing $50 million at the domestic box office against a $19 million budget.
