New International Accelerator Programme For Scale-Ups & Startups Launching

Potentially changing the shape and makeup of accelerator programs forever a new hybrid model is being put forward by IoT Tribe. The London-based accelerator is launching an acceleration programme in cooperation with Enterprise Singapore for global deeptech startups that are looking at expand in Asia, using Singapore as a springboard into the region, and for Singaporean tech startups and SMEs to expand into the UK and EU.

The new acceleration programme ‘IoT Tribe SG Plus:London Tech Calling’ is geared up to push through four cohorts over the next 24 months. Corporate partners include Rolls-Royce, R2 Data Labs, AMRC, Innovate UK, and DMC the new Covid-19 adapted acceleration programme is looking for scale-ups and startups. Due to current conditions, the goal is to find and match startups 3x faster and with 5x fewer resources than internal initiatives, and access a wide range of the latest innovative key-enabling technologies in order to take the lead in their specific sector.

If selected, scale-ups and start-ups get to use property in Singapore, a week of business-driven activities in the UK, and follow-up support to help land business opportunities that arise. The new hybrid online/offline model isn’t without challenges but new challenges need new solutions and altered ways of working to meet goals.

Programmes like this can be big cost-saving opportunities for brands. The fast-tracking of access to startups, corporates eliminate a significant amount of early-stage development risk. Rolls-Royce saved £1M ($1.24m) by the end of Q4 2019 as a direct result of a recent accelerator program according to Caroline Gorski, Production Control and Planning Manager of Rolls-Royce.

Programs are also good for regional areas normally overlooked by such programs explains Tracey Johnson. Digital Media Centre, Project Director; “Working with IoT Tribe is a key part of this process and is achieving impact locally, regionally and nationally. Attracting in global industrial IoT start-ups to our tech hub has helped to develop relationships and opportunities both for them and for our ecosystem, as well as providing a range of opportunities for our wider business base – and the public sector – to trial and even adopt these technologies.”

The first cohort of IoT Tribe SG Plus:London Tech Calling is launching with the following companies:

  • SensorFlow (smart cities)
  • Xen Technologies Pte (fintech)
  • Fuchsia Creative (retail/smart cities)
  • Babbobox – Videospace/AIspace (smart cities)
  • World Snack (retail/smart cities).

IoT Tribe SG Plus:London Tech Calling is still open to new applications too.
