Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams Favored To Win U.S. Open

Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams have been installed as the favorites to win the U.S. Open, which runs Aug. 31-Sept. 13 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Djokovic, 33, is seeking his 18th Grand Slam title and fourth U.S. Open after winning the title in New York in 2011, ‘15 and ‘18.

Per bookmaker.edu, Djokovic is at -140 to win the Open.

Without Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in the draw, world No. 3 Dominic Thiem is the second men’s favorite at +450 followed by last year’s runner-up (to Nadal) Daniil Medvedev at +700.

On the women’s side, Serena, 38, is at +175 to win her record-tying 24th Grand Slam title. She is 0-4 in her last four Grand Slam finals, having lost the 2018 U.S. Open final to Naomi Osaka and last year’s final to Bianca Andreescu.

Osaka, a two-time major champion, is the second favorite at +550. Andreescu is one of six Top-10 women not playing the event.

The Western & Southern Open, the warm-up event for the Open, begins this weekend in New York, with Djokovic and Williams both headlining the field.
