One Of The Best RPG’s Ever Made Is Dirt Cheap On Steam Right Now

One of the best computer RPGs ever made is on sale right now on Steam.

Dragon Age: Origins is currently $4.99, and the Ultimate Edition—which includes all the DLC—is just $7.49. The game is on Steam thanks to EA finally waking up to reality and realizing it could sell a lot more games if it didn’t confine them to its own Origin shop only.

Dragon Age: Origins came out just after EA swooped in and acquired BioWare—the acquisition took place not long after the release of the first Mass Effect. Many view Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2 as the last truly great BioWare titles, though Dragon Age: Inquisition won a bunch of Game of the Year Awards. Hopefully BioWare can reclaim some of its former glory with the next installments in both series (and hopefully they give up the ghost on Anthem).

In any case, if you haven’t played Dragon Age: Origins you should definitely pick it up while it’s so dirt cheap. Sure, it’s dated and the graphics are nowhere near what we see in games today, but who cares? Graphics are the least important thing when it comes to enjoyable games, and especially roleplaying games. A good story, good choices, interesting characters and so forth are all far more important. Granted, combat here is nothing to write home about either, but it’s still fun.

Other recommendations for new RPGS: Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian. All three of these games are brilliant. If you’re looking for something a little more old-school or pause-action-pause instead of turn-based, check out Pillars of Eternity II and Tyranny from Obsidian and Pathfinder: Kingmaker from Owlcat Games. If you want something outside the fantasy realm, check out Wasteland 3 from inXile.
