Ousmane Dembele: FC Barcelona Will Listen To Offers To Sell Forward

FC Barcelona will listen to offers to offload Ousmane Dembele, according to a report.

Pulling up injured early into a Champions League Group F tie against former club Borussia Dortmund on November 27, the Frenchman has not been seen in Blaugrana on a competitive field of play since.

Set to make his return to first team action in February, the 23-year-old then pulled up with a hamstring injury forcing the club to make an emergency signing of Martin Braithwaite outside of the recently-closed transfer window.

Now nearing a second comeback to finally get his 2020 underway, Dembele will not be ready for next week’s last 16 continental clash with Napoli at the Camp Nou but should be fit to provide a boost for Quique Setien’s men in the rest of the competition if they progress.

And even though there is hope that the World Cup winner will finally kick on after becoming one of the most expensive signings in the Catalans’ history, they are reportedly open to proposals for their number 11.

According to SPORT’s Lluis Miguelsanz on Friday morning, Barca would sell Dembele or loan him out with an option to buy before June 30 next year, though this date could be slightly altered given the way the soccer calendar has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

PSG and Bayern apparently interested, they have been put off by Dembele’s lengthy history of knocks but other candidates may emerge.

As is further noted, the former Rennes academy product may become surplus to requirements with the La Liga giants given the rise of Ansu Fati.

In Dembele’s absence, the homegrown 17-year-old has shone on the left wing and notched eight goals in 2019/2020.

Yet even though he may be afforded less minutes when available for selection again in the shadow of the Guinea-Bissau-born sensation, his senior positional rival is apparently happy in Barcelona and would prefer not to change his environment.

If Barca receive an offer that meets their appraisal of the Neymar replacement, however, Dembele will have little say in the matter and be forced to pack his bags.
