Paul Pogba, Kai Havertz, Thomas Partey Lead Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 6 Sleepers

Premier League Gameweek 5 saw Virgil van Dijk tear his ACL, Harry Kane and Son Heyung-Min continue their incredible individual performances in a Spurs draw and Manchester United got back on track.

As for my Fantasy Premier League
PINC
selections from last week, they were once again strong on the backline. We got a clean sheet minus a yellow card from Burnley’s Charlie Taylor, an assist from Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon and two bonus points from Sheffield United’s Chris Basham on the back line. But the midfielders and forward left much to be desired aside from a clean sheet by Wolves’ Pedro Neto. Let’s change that with a 4-4-2 formation!

Goalkeeper

Adrian, £4.5M, Liverpool

Wolves’ Rui Patricio is the more obvious choice with Adrian only starting for Liverpool in place of the injured Alisson and van Dijk injured. But Sheffield United has scored a grand total of two goals in five matches all season, including one last week, and Adrian is only played by 0.6% of FPL managers after allowing nine goals in two games. I say roll the dice!

Defenders

Tyrone Mings, £5.2M, Ezri Konsa, £4.6M, Aston Villa

Not only has Villa conceded just two goals in four matches in its dream perfect start, Mings leads all defenders in points and Konsa is right behind him. After a an exciting and unexpectedly fast start, Villa’s opponents Leeds have managed just two goals in their last three matches and will have to change their fortunes away from home. And Mings is only selected by 8.6% of FPL managers, 7.0% for Konsa. This is your chance to take advantage of a favorable matchup played by a red-hot squad.

Joe Gomez, £5.4M, Liverpool

Virgil van Dijk’s torn ACL should open up a starting spot for Gomez, who was in Jurgen Klopp’s XI in Wednesday’s Champions League opener at Ajax that saw Fabinho in the back four. As mentioned above, the Premier League winners should find success at home against an anemic Sheffield side.

Max Kilman, £4.1M, Wolves

The 23-year-old English native has played in two Premier League matches this season and picked up the three bonus points in both of them, adding an assist last matchweek and earning a long-term contract extension with Wolves this week. He’s currently only being selected by 5.9% of FPL managers, but I expect that to rise dramatically ahead of Sunday’s home fixture against Newcastle.

Midfielders

Kai Havertz, £8.4M, Chelsea

The £62 million transfer from Germany’s Bayer Leverkusen scored his first Premier League goal in last week’s 3-3 draw against Southampton last week and that should get him going as part of an exciting, young, potent Chelsea attack. Timo Werner got the headlines, and rightfully so, but Havertz provides a fine value and is still selected by less than 10% of FPL managers. I’m expecting plenty of goals on Saturday between Chelsea and Manchester United, which is why I’m also rolling with…

Paul Pogba, £7.8M, Manchester United

Pogba played 21 minutes off the bench in last week’s win at Newcastle and the team looked so much better offensively in Tuesday’s 2-1 Champions League triumph at Paris Saint Germain. With Anthony Martial still on a red card suspension, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should recognize that Pogba deserves more minutes and a larger role on this squad this weekend against Chelsea.

Thomas Partey, £5.0M, Arsenal

A £45M transfer from Atletico Madrid just over two weeks ago, Partey made his seven-minute debut in last week’s 1-0 loss to Manchester City. The Gunners didn’t pay all that money to keep him on the bench and should want to showcase him in Sunday’s important home fixture against Leicester City. He could provide excellent value for his price.

John McGinn, £5.5M, Aston Villa

If you’re one of the 1.9% of FPL managers who have McGinn on their squad, you would’ve gotten 25 points from him in just the last three gameweeks, including an assist and a clean sheet on Sunday against Leicester. You might want to join in on the fun for Friday’s match against Leeds.

Forwards

Neal Maupay, £6.6M, Brighton & Hove Albion

Only five more Premier League players have more goals than Maupay’s four, yet he’s only selected by 6.4% of FPL managers. No PL team has conceded more goals than the Gulls’ Monday opponent West Bromwich Albion, making the 24-year-old Frenchman an appealing option.

Che Adams, £5.5M, Southampton

Adams picked up a goal and an assist in last week’s 3-3 draw with Chelsea after picking up a clean sheet the week before that and an assist and a clean sheet in Gameweek 3. The 24-year-old Leicester native will look to continue his impressive run of play against an Everton side that’s conceded seven goals in its last four PL matches.
