Post Malone’s ‘Circles’ Is Now The Longest-Running Top 10 Hit Ever

Post Malone has little issue charting big singles whenever he has new music to deliver to fans, and at this point, there isn’t much he hasn’t managed to do on the Hot 100. The singer and rapper has scored No. 1 smashes and collected plenty of top 10s, but this week he does snag a feat that he’s never completed before. In fact, it’s one that nobody has.

The musician’s single “Circles” rises slightly on the Hot 100 this frame, lifting to No. 6. The track has now spent 34 weeks inside the top 10 on the most important songs chart in America, which is a new record. Before this turn, no cut had ever made it more than 33 spins inside the uppermost region on the list, and now the history books must be rewritten…and chances are they will have to once more in no time.

By holding on for one more turn, “Circles” passes three tracks which used to hold the record for the most weeks spent inside the Hot 100’s uppermost arena. Last time around, Malone’s current focus was on the same level as Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” Maroon 5 and Cardi B’s “Girls Like You” and Malone’s other major win with Swae Lee, “Sunflower,” but now those cuts have all been pushed down to second place on the ranking of the longest-charting top 10s ever.

Billboard points out that not only has “Circles” been rising and falling inside the top 10 for 34 weeks, it has spent the entirety of its time on the Hot 100 inside the loftiest space on the list. The Hollywood’s Bleeding single opened at No. 7 last September and it hasn’t left the tier since. In doing so, “Circles” passes Sheeran’s “Shape of You” for the most frames spent between Nos. 1 and 10 from the song’s debut.

From here on out, every week “Circles” manages to find space within the top 10 is historic, and it may very well continue to hold as one of the most popular songs in America for a while. Only at No. 6, there’s no reason the believe Malone’s most recent No. 1 hit won’t perform well for weeks, or possibly even months to come. In fact, it wouldn’t be out of the question to predict that the hip-hop staple’s blockbuster may be well on its way to becoming the first title to occupy a spot in the top 10 for 40 weeks.
