Queen Latifah will star in and executive produce in the Netflix movie, End of the Road. Millicent Shelton will direct from the script by The Intruder writer David Loughery, which is based on an original screenplay by Christopher Moore.
The action thriller centers around recently widowed Brenda, who drives her family cross-country to start a new life after losing her job. While isolated in the desert in New Mexico, the family must learn to fight back when they become targeted by a mysterious killer.
Tracey Edmonds (Jumping the Broom) is producing via Edmonds Entertainment with Mark Burg for Twisted Pictures and Brad Kaplan. Latifah and Shakim Compere will also serve as executive producers on behalf of Flavor Unit Entertainment.
Shelton has directed episodes of popular TV shows and music videos, including P-Valley, Insecure, Black-ish, Hunters and The Walking Dead. She started her career directing music videos for artists like Mary J. Blige and Salt-n-Pepa before tackling comedies and dramas on the small screen. End of the Road will be Shelton’s feature film directorial debut. She is repped by ICM, Rain Management Group and Del Shaw.
Latifah recently worked with Netflix on Ryan Murphy’s mini-series Hollywood portraying Hattie McDaniel. She is also set to star in the upcoming Netflix sports drama Hustle, opposite Adam Sandler and in the CBS series reboot of The Equalizer. Latifah is repped by UTA, Flavor Unit and Eisenberg Tanchum.
