Rudy Giuliani Tests Positive For Covid-19, Trump Says

Topline

President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, who has spent the past month leading the charge to overturn the results of the 2020 election, has tested positive for Covid-19, the president announced in a tweet Sunday afternoon.

Key Facts

Trump did not give any details about when the former New York City mayor tested positive for the virus or whether he is experiencing symptoms, but urged: “Get better soon Rudy, we will carry on!!”

Giuliani has repeatedly come into contact with people infected with the virus, including his son Andrew, a special assistant to the president who tested positive for Covid-19 on Nov. 20, a day after the two held a news conference together at the Republican National Committee headquarters in Washington D.C.

Though another top advisor to the president who also attended the press conference, Boris Epshteyn, announced a few days later that he’d tested positive for the virus, Giuliani continued to travel and host press conferences and hearings in battleground states, spewing baseless voter fraud conspiracy theories.

At 76, Giuliani is in the high-risk category for the virus.

This is a developing story.
