Rusev Debuts In AEW Amid Tensions With WWE (Video)

Rusev made his AEW debut, revealing himself as Kip Sabian’s Best Man ahead of Sabian’s wedding to Penelope Ford.

“10 years under the same house, under the same brass ceiling, reaching for the same brass ring,” said Rusev, now known as Miro.

“Well you can take that brass ring and shove it up your ass!”

Rusev becomes the latest former WWE Superstar to debut with AEW with a large chip on his shoulder. After making his frustrations with WWE public throughout 2019, and prior to his 2020 release, Rusev spent the past week calling out WWE on Twitter for not tagging him in a recent tweet of a 2016 match between him and Roman Reigns.

“Not tagging me is really low class and an unprofessional thing to do,” said Rusev during a recent Twitch stream.

“It [WWE’s social media policy] is so stupid because I don’t work for them anymore, but I still get checks every quarter for the Rusev merch they continue to sell. You know, I ain’t freaking dead either, so why wouldn’t you just tag me?”

Rusev is married to Lana, who was recently compelled to respond to reports that her third-party sponsorship deal with Bang Energy was “the straw that broke the camel’s back” pertaining to WWE’s controversial new edict against third-party deals.

Always one to screw with the internet, Rusev had previously claimed to be jobless and that he was done with wrestling.

“I’m done. I’m done, man. I’m just enjoying my Twitch. I’m a professional Twitcher, YouTuber, and content creator. I’m not a wrestler anymore. Can I be your favorite streamer?” said Rusev during his To Be Miro Twitch stream.

With all current male champions in AEW former WWE Superstars, Rusev’s AEW career as Miro bodes well after a warm reception from the limited capacity crowd.
