Scottish Singer-Songwriter Gerry Cinnamon Debuts His Second Album At No. 1 In The U.K.

After making a name for himself throughout the past several years with his surprisingly successful debut album, Scottish singer-songwriter and acoustic guitar player Gerry Cinnamon has reached the No. 1 spot in the U.K. with his sophomore full-length.

The musician’s latest, The Bonny, opens atop the Official Chart Company’s albums ranking with 29,000 equivalent units, which is easily enough to secure him the highest rung. The set is his first chart leader and his first to enter the top tier, as his first project, 2017’s Erratic Cinematic, only rose as high as No. 17, though it did make him something of a star in the country.

Half a dozen songs from The Bonny have been released as singles, and three of them have charted in the U.K., although all of them have performed well on the Official Chart Company’s Scotland-specific list. The project was introduced by the single “Canter,” which once lifted as high as No. 50. Next up was “Sun Queen,” which made it to No. 64. The next several promotional items didn’t reach the top 100, but subsequent push “Where We’re Going” did, lifting to No. 67. This frame, that tune is up to a new peak of No. 39, and it is now his first top 40 hit in the U.K. Further down the list, new album cut “Head in the Clouds” debuts at No. 65 while “Sun Queen” re-enters the tally at No. 70.
