Council Post: Cutting-Edge Sales: How To Close High-Ticket Deals Through Instagram DMs

Sales are becoming increasingly personal, primarily due to the rise of social media. Instagram is one of the most popular places to make connections and build a rapport. What is referred to as “sliding into DMs” is not just about empty talk and flattery. Savvy entrepreneurs are using this technique to close high-ticket sales and generate millions in revenues. As the co-founder of HighKey Clout Inc., I often work with A-list celebrities and close sales with a few quick messages on Instagram. Here are some tips for doing the same:

Have Confidence

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been passionate about social media. I have virtually grown up with platforms like Instagram and have seen them continuously evolve through various algorithms. So, navigating Instagram is second nature to me, which has allowed me to not be shy to approach anyone, even celebrities. 

The important thing to remember is that you build confidence and courage through doing purposeful work consistently. You can believe in yourself because you’re actually doing it. Obviously, fear is a natural human emotion, so as you get better and put in more work contacting people through Instagram, you’ll feel the fear and go for it anyway. Eventually, your fear of not living up to your potential and not living your purpose will outweigh your fear of failure.

Follow Up

When I close high-ticket sales in the DMs, the key is to continue following up because I’m talking with big-time celebrities. Most people who you’re going to reach out to are probably busy and constantly distracted. So if you want to get their attention, you have to continuously follow up.

It’s important to not send any fluff in your DMs. Get right to the point while offering significant value to the person you’re messaging. If they don’t message you back, you can always follow up every couple of days. You never want to worry about being too pesky in these situations. If people are annoyed with the number of messages you’re sending, they’re not worth doing business with anyway. You want high-level achievers who are constantly pushing themselves, and those types of people understand the hustle it takes to close deals on social media. What the follow-up message entails depends on what you’re offering, if they’ve responded and how soon you’re trying to close. If it’s time-sensitive, it’s a much different situation.

Do Your Research

I also always do my research before contacting anyone. When I’m selling celebrity giveaways, I’m looking to sell to high-level individuals because these sales are higher tickets. These are people who are concerned with growing their social media, are willing to take risks in that area and want to work with the best in the business. Yes, there are millions of people on social media and thousands of celebrities or business leaders. It has to be a win for both parties at the end of the day.

When you sell in the DMs, you need to be specific about what you’re offering. When I am selling, I include the services or growth opportunities provided by my company. Each message is very specific to the offer I’m presenting, while all being under the umbrella of top-level branding.

When it comes to the message’s wording, I personalize the deal introduction while sticking to my trusted template. When I actually get their attention and begin talking, however, it’s all custom. You can’t just copy/paste the same message to everyone. People want to be treated as individuals; that’s how you win them over.

I love innovation and having fun while disrupting the industry. Sales used to be seen as this process of meeting and playing psychological games, but actually, it’s a lot of fun. You have to show your genuine enthusiasm and spend time building a rapport with people. That’s when things begin to happen naturally, and you don’t have to force the sale on anybody. Instagram has made building rapport much easier than it used to be, and way more exciting, too.
