Susan Rice Overtakes Kamala Harris To Lead Betting Markets On Biden’s VP Pick

For weeks, Harris had a strong lead on betting markets predicting Biden’s VP pick. 

On Tuesday, Rice overtook Harris, and holding odds of 55% on the betting site Smarkets, while the senator from California sat at 37%. 

On PredictIt, another political betting site, Rice traded at 54 cents on Tuesday, while Harris dropped to 40 cents. 

One factor driving the betting markets may be the Democratic National Convention’s schedule, which was released Tuesday.

The convention schedule lists an unnamed spot for “Vice President Nominee” to speak on the second to last day of the four-day event. 

The schedule listed Harris, as well as other VP contenders Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-Mich.), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) as speakers, but not Rice, or other possible picks Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) and Rep. Val Demings (D-Fla.)
