Taylor Swift’s ‘Folklore’ Holds At No. 1 While DaBaby And Beyoncé Return To The Top 10

After launching her new album Folklore at No. 1 last week with the largest debut of 2020 (just under 850,000 equivalent units), is it any surprise that Taylor Swift keeps her latest atop the Billboard 200 for a second frame? The superstar’s first surprise release earns another stay in the chart’s penthouse thanks to 135,000 equivalent units, which is a far cry from its massive start, but which is also easily enough to secure it the highest rung once more.

With a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Swift’s Folklore becomes just the sixth full-length to spend more than a single turn atop the ranking this year, following Lil Baby’s My Turn (five weeks at No. 1), The Weeknd’s After Hours (four weeks), Roddy Ricch’s Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial (three weeks), Juice WRLD’s Legends Never Die (two weeks) and Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake (two weeks).

Behind Swift’s steady ruler, one of the most successful releases of 2020 returns to the top spot thanks to a new reissue while a set that originally dropped last year makes its way back to the top 10.

Two former rulers appear next, both of which were released after the musicians behind them passed away. Pop Smoke’s Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon ascends to No. 2 while Juice WRLD’s Legends Never Die lands at No. 3. Both titles came close to managing another week with a six-digit sales count, with Smoke only missing that mark by 3,000 equivalent units.

The original Broadway cast recording of Hamilton is back at No. 4, followed by Lil Baby’s My Turn at No. 5.

After falling outside the top 10 just last week, rapper DaBaby sees his latest album Blame It on Baby return to the highest tier on the tally once again. The set vaults from No. 11 to No. 6 as fans rush to listen to the newly-released deluxe edition of the title, which expands its tracklist from 13 songs to 24. Blame It on Baby debuted at No. 1 back in May and has been performing very well ever since. This frame, it moved another 43,000 equivalent units.

Next up are Harry Styles’ Fine Line at No. 7, Gunna’s Wunna at No. 8 and Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding at No. 9. All three titles have spent time at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Beyoncé returns to the highest tier on the Billboard 200 this week with The Lion King: The Gift, which she released last year. The set was intended as a companion album to the soundtrack of the remake of the animated film, which the singer-songwriter co-starred in.

The powerhouse surprised her legion of fans a short time ago by revealing she had also created a standalone film for the full-length, forming a story out of the songs and incorporating elements of The Lion King as well. Thanks to a mix of renewed attention in the project, which premiered a little over a week ago on Disney+, as well as fans streaming the just-re-released deluxe edition featuring a handful of new tracks, The Lion King: The Gift re-enters the Billboard 200 at No. 10 with 27,000 equivalent units shifted.
