Titleist, Footjoy ‘Chipping In’ With Unique Golf Experience Auction For COVID-19 Relief

A round of golf at Medalist with Justin Thomas and his father, Mike, a PGA Master Professional. Wedge and putter fittings with iconic craftsmen Bob Vokey and Scotty Cameron. Personal instruction with legendary teachers like Butch Harmon, Michael Breed and Cameron McCormick. A Pebble Beach experience hosted by Jim Nantz.

These one-of-a-kind opportunities and more are a part of a week-long online golf auction presented by Titleist, Footjoy, Vokey, Scotty Cameron and Kjus to raise funds for COVID-19 relief.

Acushnet, the parent company for the participating brands, has actively undertaken a series of initiatives since the coronavirus outbreak began, including donating more than 100,000 masks and other personal protection equipment to medical personnel, helping deliver new or gently-used golf rain suits to healthcare workers on the frontlines, retrofitting manufacturing facilities to produce PPE items and equipment, and donating 15% of all purchases from April 8-30 to the CDP COVID-19 Response Fund.

But the “Chipping In” golf auction presents the opportunity to engage the charitable nature of the golf community in an especially unique and meaningful way.

All proceeds from the 12 golf experiences in the auction will benefit the relief efforts of three organizations: the COVID-19 Response Fund, the Golf Emergency Relief Fund and the United Way chapters of Greater New Bedford and San Diego County, which support the local communities where the majority of Titleist and Footjoy associates work and live.

Shortly after the auction opened, bidding for the Jim Nantz Ultimate Pebble Beach Experience climbed past $25,000.

As part of that adventure, the winning bidder’s foursome will be joined by Nantz, a Pebble Beach resident, for breakfast and a pre-round putting contest. Nantz will then announce each player in the foursome as they hit off the first tee at Pebble Beach. Following the round, the group will head to Nantz’s house for drinks – including wine from Nantz’s signature brand “The Calling” – and hit balls at his famous backyard par-3 hole which is a replica of the 7th hole at Pebble Beach. The winner of that closest-to-the-hole competition will win a custom set of Titleist clubs, although each participant will be given numerous opportunities to add their name to the list of 16 people who have aced the hole and are recognized on “The Rock of Fame.”

The Scotty Cameron Experience quickly reached $20,000, while the day with Thomas and his father (who will also provide a one-on-one lesson) topped $16,000 on the opening day of the auction.

Other opportunities include playing rounds of golf with Ian Poulter or Webb Simpson, getting putting lessons from FOX golf analyst and flatstick guru Brad Faxon, joining Peter Kostis at Whisper Rock for swing instruction and a round of golf, or working on wedges with 2018 National PGA Teacher of the Year James Sieckman, the “master of the modern short game.”

Almost all of the auction “items” include the opportunity to bring two or more golf buddies because, let’s face it, these experiences are too good not to share.
