Today, ‘Cobra Kai’ Joined Elite Company With This Netflix Milestone

But, seemingly, it’s all paid off for Cobra Kai’s new home, as the show just achieved a huge milestone that’s only been reached by the absolute top-tier of Netflix Originals.

Today, Cobra Kai spent its eighth consecutive day in the #1 spot on Netflix’s Daily Top 10 list. That’s a feat only seven other shows have managed this year. And those are some pretty legendary installments for Netflix that all rank amongst the most popular projects ever on the streaming service.

Here are the current record-holders for longest streaks in first place on the Daily Top 10:

1. Tiger King – 27 days
2. The Umbrella Academy – 15 days
3. 13 Reasons Why – 14 days
4. Unsolved Mysteries – 12 days
5. Floor is Lava – 12 days
6. Dead to Me – 10 days
7. Cobra Kai – 8 days

Cobra Kai has quickly become one of the most popular shows of 2020. And we know that because of our newly established points system that allows us to rank projects on Netflix. After the streaming platform introduced the Top 10 feature earlier this year, we were suddenly able to measure how well a movie or show performs on Netflix. And as a result, we have a running list of the network’s most popular shows in 2020.

And each of those shows listed above ranks very highly on that list. Obviously, Tiger King leads the way with 387 points. Next up is The Umbrella Academy in sixth place with 298 points. And the rest of those shows rank in the top fifteen for the entire year: 13 Reasons Why is currently in 11th place; Dead to Me in 12th place; Floor is Lava in 14th place; and Unsolved Mysteries in 15th place.

And if we shorten that list to just scripted projects, then Cobra Kai is now just the fourth show this year to reach that milestone of eight consecutive days.

In fact, that eight-day achievement Cobra Kai just put together is something that several shows—including Ozark, Outer Banks, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Love is Blind and Space Force—could never muster. And all five of those shows rank above 13 Reasons Why, Dead to Me, Floor is Lava and Unsolved Mysteries on the 2020 Top 10—which means Cobra Kai is currently in elite company.

And it’s hard to imagine the momentum slowing down anytime soon. The only new Netflix show that could have taken down Cobra Kai for the #1 position was the Hilary Swank drama Away—which premiered today in the #2 spot. So unless that star-powered vehicle can muster higher ratings in the coming days, then Cobra Kai will continue to go where very few shows have gone before on Netflix.
