Trump Rally Beats Biden Town Hall In Cable News Ratings

President Trump’s rally in Wisconsin Thursday night didn’t draw the biggest ratings of the evening—that distinction went to Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson Tonight, which was the highest-rated program in all of cable news with 4.6 million viewers—but Trump did draw a bigger audience than Joe Biden, who appeared for a live town hall on CNN.

Trump’s rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin aired during Fox News’ Hannity and drew a total audience of 4.4 million viewers, while the Biden town hall on CNN (which aired an hour earlier) drew 3.3 million viewers, according to ratings data compiled by Nielsen.

While Tucker Carlson easily outdistanced the CNN town hall in terms of total viewers, the ratings race was much closer among adults 25-54, the demographic group most valued by advertisers. In the key demo, Fox News finished first with 774,000 viewers, followed by CNN with 716,000 viewers. MSNBC was a distant third with 352,000 viewers.

Overall, Fox News led the night in prime time ratings with an average audience of 4.3 million viewers, well ahead of CNN (2.527 million total viewers) and MSNBC (2.459 million viewers). FNC led in the key demo with 731,000 viewers, followed by CNN (558,000 viewers) and MSNBC (378,000 viewers).
