TSM Beat Sentinels To Win $50,000 Faze Clan ‘Valorant’ Tournament

Team SoloMid has won the $50,000 FaZe Clan Valorant Invitational tournament after beating Sentinels 3-2 in the grand final. The win sees TSM beat Sentinels for the second time in the tournament, with both matches likely to go on to become classic matches in the history of Valorant

The first time the two teams faced off was in the upper bracket final, where the winner would guarantee themselves a spot in the grand final. The match was credited as one of the best Valorant matches of all time, despite TSM winning 2-0. Map one was a close affair with some big memorable plays from both teams, but it was map two on Haven that made fans’ jaws drop.

The two teams played a back and forth affair, with the score ending at 12-12 after regulation time, so overtime, where a team must win by two rounds, was required. Here both teams went to another level, with crazy plays and even more back and forth rounds. The match eventually ended 18-16 in TSM’s favor, and fans were calling it the greatest map in pro Valorant history.

This win for TSM meant that Sentinels dropped to the lower bracket and had to play against Immortals for the second place in the grand finals. But this match was a 2-0 beatdown where it never really looked like Immortals stood a chance.

With a rematch in the grand finals between TSM and Sentinels the fans were hyped, and it did not disappoint. With TSM coming from the upper bracket they started with a 1-0 lead in the best of five competition, meaning Sentinels would have to win three of the four maps played to take home the win.

Sentinels came out swinging in the final. After a slow start to the map, they went on a big win streak, and while TSM did claw some rounds back Sentinels managed to even up the score to 1-1 with a 13-8 victory on Haven. The loss clearly got TSM angry, as they bounced straight back and took a very close win on Split 13-11, in a map that featured even more amazing plays.

This put TSM on match point and Sentinels needed to answer, and they did just that on Ascent. In the biggest win between the two teams, this tournament Sentinels took a convincing 13-7 win and looked to have the momentum going into the final map.

Bind was the last map to be played in the grand final, and once again the teams looked incredibly even. The first half ended 7-5 to TSM, but a big win on the pistol round brought Sentinels back into the game, they then went on a bit of a run to earn match point with four rounds left to spare. But somehow, with their backs against the wall, TSM managed to win all four remaining rounds and force overtime. Sentinels were one round away from the big tournament win, but they just couldn’t close it out.

With Sentinels clearly heartbroken by these big round losses overtime was over in a flash. TSM picked up two quick wins to end the map 14-12 and become FaZe Clan Invitational champions.
