TSM Gave ‘Valorant’ Players Everything They Asked For During Negotiations

Team SoloMid is without a doubt one of the best teams in the North American Valorant scene. The roster has multiple titles to its name already, has proven that they can beat any other team in the region and consistently produces highlight plays that at times look impossible. But back when the team was signed to TSM, many were questioning the move. 

All of the members of the TSM Valorant squad are former CS:GO players, but most never made it to the very top levels. For most of them they found a home in the second and third tier of North American CS:GO, where the money is significantly lower and it can be hard to break through to the top. So they all made the decision to switch to Valorant and started to play together. 

Mere weeks after getting hands-on with the game they were being approached by organizations wanting to sign them, including TSM who were determined to pick up this roster of players. 

“Our roster was hungry and a lot of them were up and coming talent like Wardell, Drone and Subroza in CS:GO but never had the opportunity to shine,” said Andy “Reginald” Dinh, founder and CEO of TSM. “That hunger is really why we decided on our roster in addition to the team chemistry.” 

TSM knew immediately that this was going to be an incredible roster in Valorant, and that they needed to sign them, but they faced competition from other organizations looking to enter the game. 

“We had a lot of offers from different organizations,” said star player Matthew “Wardell” Yu. “But I wanted to go with TSM because I’ve always dreamed of becoming a part of this prestigious org when I was in grade seven playing League of Legends.”  

There was mutual interest between the two parties, but the TSM organization was determined to pick up this roster and made sure that the players knew that. With multiple offers on the table, the players were in a strong position to negotiate and make sure they got everything they wanted. They did just that, and TSM gave them every single thing they asked for. 

“TSM discussions started pretty early on, I can’t remember the exact time, but it was around the start of May,” said James “hazed” Cobb. “TSM was amazing during the negotiations. No question or request that we made was scoffed at and they budged on a lot of things that we were worried about. We were in talks with quite a few orgs but after talking with all of them extensively, we knew that TSM was the right choice. They were not only the biggest brand but also the most welcoming towards us.” 

With TSM willing to give the players everything they wanted and the players looking to sign with a top tier organization everyone was on the same page and an agreement was made quickly between the two parties. TSM had secured one of the best Valorant rosters in the world and the rest is history. 

But TSM doesn’t plan on stopping there. They are truly committed to Valorant and the roster they currently have. While they are not pumping as much money into Valorant as other titles they are in, they are treating it at the same level of importance, and will continue to provide everything the players need going forward. 

“Our League team is our largest investment since it is the biggest esport in the world,” said Dinh. “However, Valorant is only getting bigger and you can expect TSM to continue to make investments into coaching, infrastructure, etc. in order to succeed and be #1 in the world in the game.” 

As soon as international competitions start you can be sure that TSM will be at the top end of the table, and they have a real shot at being the number one team in the world for some time. It seems that throwing everything at this roster was the right choice and one that TSM will not regret anytime soon.
