Twenty One Pilots, Gwen Stefani And Selena Gomez: 5 Important Moves On This Week’s Hot 100

New singles from the likes of Twenty One Pilots and Selena Gomez open in lofty positions on this week’s Hot 100 while tracks from Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton and newcomers Surfaces finally hit special marks after those musicians worked for weeks to keep their latest going strong.

Here’s a look at five of the most important moves on this week’s Hot 100 singles chart.

No. 18 – Blake Shelton & Gwen Stefani – “Nobody But You”

After months of rising on the country-only charts first and then the Hot 100, boyfriend-and-girlfriend duo Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have jumped into the top 20 with their latest collaborative hit “Nobody But You,” which has quickly become one of the biggest successes of the country musician’s career.

The sweet single is Shelton’s fifth top 20 hit and Stefani’s eighth on her own and twelfth when including the music she released as a member of No Doubt.

No. 23 – Twenty One Pilots – “Level of Concern”

Last week, Twenty One Pilots’ new single “Level of Concern” landed on a number of Billboard rankings, and it quickly established itself as a real rock hit, but it failed to reach the Hot 100. Now, the track has opened at No. 23 on the all-genre list, instantly becoming the duo’s fourth top 40 hit and one of their highest-charting singles yet. So far, the title appears to be a standalone song, not connected to a new album.

No. 38 – Surfaces – “Sunday Best”

Rising group Surfaces have scored a breakout global smash with “Sunday Best,” which has spent all of 2020 improving on tallies all over the world. After several frames of pushing toward the top, the cut has finally entered the top 40 on the Hot 100, becoming a proper hit.

No. 54 – Tory Lanez – “Stupid Again”

As his new album The New Toronto 3 opens at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 (his second project to miss the highest rung by a single spot), Tory Lanez occupies a pair of spots on the Hot 100. Up first from the new release is “Stupid Again,” which lands at No. 54, and just 10 slots down, “Broke in a Minute” starts at No. 64. The Canadian hip-hop musician has now appeared on the important chart with a dozen tracks throughout his career.

No. 59 – Selena Gomez – “Boyfriend”

Selena Gomez nabbed another No. 1 album earlier in 2020 with Rare, and while the set has only been out for a few months, the singer has already posted the deluxe edition, which comes with several previously-unreleased tunes. Included in that group is “Boyfriend,” which has quickly been adopted by fans as a favorite new cut, launches at No. 59, becoming Gomez’s thirty-second Hot 100 hit.
