TWICE Celebrate 5-Year Anniversary, Perform New Song Ahead Of ‘Eyes Wide Open’ Album

October 20th marks five years since TWICE hit the K-pop scene and the girl group took time to celebrate their remarkable run so far with a special live-stream event for fans.

Ahead of the TWICE 5th Anniversary Special Live “WITH” event, the nine-member group held a special photoshoot, recorded video content and wrote personal messages to their fandom—known affectionately as ONCE—for the broadcast that lasted more than two hours. Throughout the show, the members looked back on memories together, reacted to social-media posts fans uploaded through the years, played different kinds of games and delivered some special performances.

After hitting just over two hours streaming with ONCE, TWICE performed a fan-favorite b-side “Jaljayo Good Night,” a rarely performed track that’s the final track from the group’s first full-length album Twicetagram released in 2017. The group then brought another live-performance surprise by unveiling a brand-new song “Say Something” that will be featured on their second full-length Korean album Eyes Wide Open when it’s released next week on Monday, October 26. The sleek, disco-tinged pop track—which ends with a super-satisfying saxophone riff that saw member Momo jump out of her seat—gives further indication that Eyes Wide Open will see TWICE embracing some retro sounds for the LP and its lead single “I Can’t Stop Me.”

No doubt TWICE had loads to celebrate ahead of this milestone anniversary.

In just five years, the ninesome has become Korea’s best-selling female act ever, boasting more than a dozen No. 1 hits across Korea and Japan, and have sold out arenas across Asia and North America. 2020 also became a special year for TWICE when they signed with U.S. record label Republic Records and earned their first hit on the Billboard 200 when More & More entered the U.S. albums chart this summer. No doubt together, members Jihyo, Nayeon, Momo, Jeongyeon, Sana, Dahyun, Mina, Chaeyoung and Tzuyu have been massive leaders in spreading K-pop to the world, but the members all acknowledge that it’s been the continuing support of their fans that’s kept them going this long.

“ONCE, it’s our fifth anniversary, thank you for sticking by our side and for allowing us to share our music with you for all this time,” the group shares in an exclusive statement. “We are TWICE because of your support! No matter what happens, we will be TWICE and you will be ONCE. We’re so excited to see your reaction to our upcoming album and title track ‘I Can’t Stop Me.’ We hope you love them! We love you and thank you every day!”
