UFC 249 Full Fight Video: Watch Donald Cerrone Defeat Al Iaquinta

In 2015 Donald Cerrone lost to Rafael dos Anjos. That fight was for the lightweight title. Dos Anjos knocked out Cerrone in 66 seconds. After that setback, Cerrone moved to welterweight where he went 4-0 with four stoppage victories. Since then, Cerrone has gone 4-7. He is currently on the second three-fight losing skid of his career. Cerrone has never lost four fights in a row. On Saturday, Cerrone faces Anthony Pettis in a welterweight contest on the prelims of UFC 249. In their first meeting Pettis became the first fighter to stop Cerrone via strikes when he finished him with a body kick 2:35 into the first round of that scrap.

Before Cerrone’s current losing skid, he was on a three-fight winning streak. He won fight-night bonus awards in each of those victories. In November 2018, Cerrone submitted Mike Perry. He then faced Alexander Hernandez in January 2019. Cerrone ended Hernandez’s eight-fight winning streak with a second-round knockout. That win moved Cerrone to No. 8 in the welterweight rankings. In May 2019, Cerrone faced Al Iaquinta, who was the No. 4 ranked fighter in the official UFC rankings. The five-round bout headlined UFC on ESPN+9.

By the end of the contest, Iaquinta was a bloody mess and his right eye was nearly swollen shut. The judges awarded the fight to Cerrone by unanimous decision.

Cerrone’s next three fights took place between June 2019 and January 2020, which is an incredible pace considering Cerrone faced three of the best fighters in the UFC. In June, Tony Ferguson earned a doctor stoppage TKO over Cerrone at the end of the second round. In September, Justin Gaethje stopped Cerrone via strikes at the 4:18 mark of the first stanza. Most recently, Conor McGregor earned a TKO win over Cerrone 40 seconds into their January bout at UFC 246.

Cerrone looks to get back on the winning track against Pettis, who is on a two-fight losing skid. Pettis’ most recent setback was a January submission loss to Carlos Diego Ferreira.

UFC 249 takes place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. The main card streams on ESPN+ pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

Before that event takes place, watch Cerrone’s win over Iaquinta.
