UFC Fight Night 172: Date, Time, TV, And Live Stream Info

Round 3 of the UFC’s whirlwind in Jacksonville, Florida gets underway on Saturday night from the fan-less VyStar Veteran Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

The third UFC event at the venue in eight days will be capped off with a heavyweight clash between perennial contender Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris. Here’s how you can watch the show.

  • Date: Saturday, May 16
  • TV: ESPN
  • Live Stream: ESPN+
  • Time: Prelims at 6pm ET and Main Card at 9 pm ET

The Draw

Walt Harris makes his first Octagon appearance since his daughter was tragically murdered in 2019. His story caught national attention and put his career on hold. Harris, who is ranked No. 9 amongst heavyweights will be facing one of the greatest fighters in UFC history to never win a world title, and that’s Alistair Overeem.

This is a bit of a crossroads bout for the No.8-ranked Overeem. After a streak-snapping, heartbreaking and lip-splitting loss to Jairzinho Rozenstruik in his last fight, The Reem needs a win in the worst way.

Both men are large, athletic and dangerous strikers. It’s very possible this one ends before the final bell.

The Co-Main Event and The Rest of the Card

No fighter in the UFC is more active than Angela “Overkill” Hill. The UFC’s first African-American female fighter has been on a tear of late. She’s won three straight and she’s getting set for her seventh fight in 14 months. Over that time, Hill has compiled a 4-2 record and appears to be performing at the top of her game.

She’ll need to be on Saturday night when she faces former strawweight title challenger Claudia Gadelha.

Behind outstanding grappling, Gadelha has established herself as one of the top strawweights in the world. She comes into Saturday’s fight with Hill ranked No. 6 in the division. If she is to maintain that spot she has to beat the surging Hill.

Gadelha is coming off a hard-fought victory over Randa Markos in her last fight. However, there are questions as to whether she still has what it takes to be considered elite. How she performs against Hill will answer some of those questions.

Here’s the rest of the card on tap for Saturday.

Look out for individual odds and prediction pieces for the top three fights on the card, and the entire event. After the event, I’ll also cover bonus-winning performances as well as a complete look back at all of the winners from Saturday’s card.
