Virginia Brewery Brings Oktoberfest To Consumers’ Door With Yodelgrams

Oktoberfest may have been canceled in Germany, but if you live in Richmond, VA or Washington, D.C., you can get a personalized yodelgram and Octoberfest beer delivered to your door.

Devil’s Backbone Brewing Company is selling a limited number of yodelgrams on a first come, first serve basis. The yodelgram, which costs $53.97 plus tax, includes a personalized yodel from TikTok yodel star Cassidy, a stein and three 12-packs of beer – one each of the brewery’s Oktoberfest lineup of Vienna Lager, O’Fest and München On Hops. The yodelgram’s price of just under $54 is what the 12-packs alone would cost.

“Everybody loves Oktoberfest traditions: the beer, the lederhosen, the dirndls, the singing, and the chance to have an epic party with your friends,” says Hayes Humphreys. “But it’s 2020, Oktoberfest is cancelled so we wanted to find a way to bring a little bit of frivolity directly to our fans while they enjoy Oktoberfest at home.”

The decision to find a yodeler to deliver the beer is because some yodeling traditions are German. “It’s difficult to pin down the exact origins of yodeling, but we know dance and song area a big part of Oktoberfest, and we wanted to bring great beer and a moment of joy to people in D.C. and Richmond,” Humphreys says.

Also, yodeling brings a bit of the crazy, fun experience of actually attending an Oktoberfest celebration to people’s doorsteps. “Oktoberfest is a rowdy, vibrant celebration, and many socially distanced and safe events are purposefully just the opposite,” Humphreys says. “We feel like sending a professional yodeler to sing at you and your friends really does the trick.”

For Washington, D.C., consumers should sign up on Sept. 14 to 15 for deliveries that will take place on Sept. 21 to 22. For Richmond, consumers should sign up on Sept. 17 to 18 for deliveries that will take place on Sept. 24 to 25.Consumers can sign up pn the brewery’s site HERE during these dates. Delivery slots are first come, first serve, but if you don’t get a spot, you can email the company at info@dbbrewingcompany.com to be added to the waitlist.

For safety, all deliveries will be contactless. The Devils Backbone team will wear masks and stand at a minimum of six feet away from the recipient for the entire yodelgram. Cassidy, the yodeler, will be unmasked, but she will remain at a minimum distance of 14 to 20 feet away from the recipient. Recipients of yodelgrams will need to be at least 21 years old, and they will need to present their I.D. card and remain masked and at a distance during the delivery.
