WWE May Already Be Bringing Back A Star It Just Released

WWE is already feeling the pressure to bring back a star who was released by the company just last week.

According to Fightful Select (h/t Comic Book), a number of people within WWE “loudly went to bat” for former Riott Squad member Sarah Logan in hopes of getting her re-hired after she was let go during WWE’s mass release of more than 20 in-ring performers:

“Speculation among the locker room is that Sarah Logan is expected to be back with the company in some capacity in the near future, if she isn’t already. As with the case with anyone getting fired, there will be plenty of unhappy people, but we’ve heard numerous people loudly went to bat for her.”

It was reported by Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin on Monday that WWE could be utilizing a recently released WWE star on this week’s Raw:

Though Satin was believed to be referencing Logan, those plans were apparently changed just before the show aired. According to Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer (h/t WhatCulture), “Logan was supposed to [be] on last night’s broadcast only to be removed after Raw had started airing, with somebody high up in the company changing their mind at the very last minute.” It was added that “WWE’s mentality is that they can continue to use Logan for the 90 days on her no-compete clause, and that she hasn’t been rehired – and probably won’t be either.”

It didn’t go unnoticed that Logan, who has spent much of the past year off TV altogether, was referenced multiple times on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, a far cry from the long stretches she has previously gone without being involved in the storyline loop. When WWE made the surprising decision to disband The Riott Squad in April 2019’s Superstar Shakeup, it sure felt like Logan was going to end up being the odd woman out, especially given that Ruby Riott had been pushed as the clear leader of the group while there were rumblings of a potentially huge push for Liv Morgan.

Logan was primarily used as a rarely seen enhancement talent following the breakup of The Riott Squad, but earlier this year in route to WrestleMania 36, it appeared as if WWE had plans to use her in a more regular role as she began feuding with her former Riott Squad teammates prior to the pay-per-view. That long awaited Riott Squad triple threat never materialized, however, and after Logan, Morgan and the recently returning Riott were all eliminated from the women’s Elimination Chamber match in unceremonious fashion by Shayna Baszler, Logan likely was going to be stuck back in the same lower card role she’s been in for much of her career.

Logan, however, was let go as part of WWE’s COVID-19-related cost-cutting measures, with roughly two dozen superstars being released while several backstage producers, NXT stars and on-screen performers were either released or furloughed as well. WWE is reportedly expected to bring back at least some of those furloughed employees later this summer, and the widespread expectation is that the door will be open for some of those released stars to return to the company as well. As it turns out, the well-liked Logan, who has made tremendous strides as an in-ring performer over the past several months, could very well be the first released WWE star who makes her way back to the company.

However, there is no confirmation one way or the other at this point. While Fightful notes that there is a big backstage push to get Logan rehired ASAP, Meltzer is under the impression that WWE may simply utilize Logan on TV in some capacity for the remainder of her 90-day no-compete clause.

Either way, Logan clearly has a ton of supporters within WWE, and if the positive social media reaction to her potential rehiring continues, then that just may be enough for WWE to bring her back.
