WWE NXT Super Tuesday 2 opened with the crowning of a new NXT champion as Finn Balor defeated Adam Cole with a 1916 from the top rope. The match spanned half an hour and multiple commercial breaks.

The main event saw Rhea Ripley battle Mercedes Martinez inside a steel cage.

Last week’s broadcast of WWE NXT ran unopposed and garnered 849,000 viewers, up 3% from the week prior.

WWE NXT Results—Tuesday, September 8, 2020

Finn Balor def. Adam Cole—WWE NXT Championship

This marked the first time anybody has ever kicked out of the Coup de Gras after Balor delivered it with only one (kayfabe) good leg.

After that half-our marathon of an AEW World Tag Team Championship match from All Out, I had no idea 30 minutes could go by so quickly.

I was very surprised to see no sign of Pat McAfee in this match. Instead, Cole lost clean.

Tegan Nox has Wine with Candice LeRae

Tegan Nox wears the same type of outfit for a casual backstage interviews that she does for a wine date with the Garganos.

Today, I learned Johnny Gargano reads bedtime stories to his dog.

The passive-aggressive energy was rampant throughout this segment from the moment the doorbell rang.

Velveteen Dream def. Ashante “Thee” Adonis

Ashanti Thee Adonis spent the opening moments of this match literally flirting with Velveteen Dream.

I fell for Adonis’ nearfall hook, line and sinker. This kid has something.

KUSHIDA is the perfect opponent for Velveteen Dream and can give him the best matches of his career.

Bronson Reed def. Austin Theory

His new theme music is awful and “colossal” is a far inferior word to “thicc.” It took longer than I thought but NXT is well on its way to screwing up Bronson Reed.

At one point, Austin Theory took a standing elbow to the head and oversold it by doing a somersault.

Austin Theory went from having a plum spot on Raw to losing his return match in NXT.

Roderick Strong def. Killian Dain

Adam Cole’s good sportsmanship clashes violently with The Undisputed Era’s underhanded tactics as Bobby Fish cheated trying to help Roderick Strong win this match.

Conspicuous by their absences: Kyle O’Reilly and Adam Cole. Trust me when I say this was not a coincidence.

Killian Dain and Drake Maverick would make one hell of an odd couple tag team, the likes of Team Hell No.

Rhea Ripley vs. Mercedes Martinez—Steel Cage Match

NXT worked very hard to promote this Steel Cage match and both women are credible. This episode should, at the very least, flirt with some of the highest viewership of 2020.

Robert Stone constantly looks like he just fell out of a moving car.

Mercedes Martinez spent much of her entrance putting weapons in the ring just to make sure this unopposed Steel Cage match gets the biggest audience possible.

This was such a satisfying war.
