Opening Segment Featuring Sami Zayn, AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy

The visual of ladders in the ring to promote this match made it seem like a main event.

Even though AJ Styles stood tall, he supremely out-heeling AJ Styles by a country mile.

Bayley Appears Live

Bayley is beginning to make a habit out of sitting down in the chair she destroyed Sasha Banks with, and it’s a very compelling accessory.

If WWE could just stretch this Bayley-Sasha feud out for a couple more months, they’ll be on a congruent collision course for a Chairs Match at WWE TLC in December.

Shinsuke Nakamura def. Gran Metalik

WWE has spent more time breaking up The Lucha House Party than it did The IIconics and this development shocks me.

Given how far south creative has plummeted of late, I wouldn’t be surprised to see The implosive Lucha House Party win the SmackDown Tag Team Championships clean at Clash of Champions.

Jey Uso Calls Out Roman Reigns

WWE aired an excellent promo package featuring members of the Anoa’i family prior to this segment, and it would have been so much better if this multibillion-dollar company could send these legends some microphones.

Jey Uso finally seems to be figuring out that Roman Reigns is, in fact, a heel and their relationship has changed.

Baron Corbin def. Matt Riddle

Matt Riddle and Baron Corbin are trending to be at the exact same level by the end of this feud, which is part of the problem in this company.

WWE continues to be in love with 50/50 booking, but in its backwards universe the fact that they gave Matt Riddle a post-match promo in defeat is actually encouraging.

Lacey Evans def. Alexa Bliss via Disqualification

This match was nothing special in the ring, but this feud might be the best thing going in WWE, which is why I couldn’t take my eyes off it.

WWE couldn’t leave well enough alone while Alexa Bliss was staring down Roman Reigns during his entrance. In what was supposed to be a tease, Bliss was on camera forever and the announce team went out of its way to freak out at the notion of Bliss staring at Reigns. No subtlety!

Roman Reigns and Jey Uso Face Off

Though nobody is giving him a chance, Jey Uso has shown well for himself as an underdog babyface throughout this feud. This match could be a destruction, but I really hope he gets one or two hope spots.

Roman Reigns’ closing line about always being at the head of the table was so perfect.
