WWE Talent Anonymously Lashes Out Against Company’s Handling Of COVID-19

A WWE developmental talent, speaking under the condition of anonymity, has wrote a scathing letter to Wrestling Inc. speaking out against WWE’s handling of COVID-19 procedures. WWE has been hit with a recent series of positive tests as cases spiked to record highs within the state of Florida this week.

Renee Young, Adam Pearce and Jamie Noble are among the names who have come forward to confirm they tested positive, while WWE announcer Kayla Braxton shockingly confirmed she tested positive twice this week. Braxton subsequently quit Twitter amid irrational responses from some fans pertaining to the news.

“Now that WWE has more talent and staffers starting to test positive, we’ve been informed by talent relations not to discuss our illness wit anyone besides those we may live with that may need to know [sic.],” read the anonymous statement.

“We are FORBIDDEN to tell anyone else nor can we come out publicly to make any statements. It was stressed that WWE will take care of any medical treatments, should we need them. In the same breath it was made clear the company would handle the PR and only those that needed to know about our condition would know as HIPPA laws would prevent them from making our names public [sic.]”

The letter went on to lament WWE continuing to “tape multiple shows a day” while alleging most people weren’t tested until last week as they were told “the company did not believe the validity of some of the testing being done.”

The sentiments made clear in the letter echo the apparent frustrations that have come from within WWE as talent remains concerned about protecting their families amid spread of COVID-19. WWE has come under fire for questionable testing procedures, and even responded to reports of not allowing fans to wear masks. WWEs mask protocol was also subject to criticism from the anonymous letter claiming WWE Director Kevin Dunn banned talent from wearing masks.

“These individuals were required to participate in medical screenings prior to entering the closed set at our training facility, and were kept apart from in-ring performers and production personnel,” read WWE’s June 16 statement.

“Attendance was below 20% capacity and social distancing guidelines were adhered to with at least six feet between parties, thus face masks were not required.”

Claims made in the anonymous letter paint a picture of confusion, disorganization and concern as WWE continues to face one mini-controversy after another amid keeping its doors open during a global pandemic.

“The train is not only off the tracks, but has gone over the cliff in a blaze of glory!” read the final line of the exasperated letter.

WWE has not responded to a request for comment pertaining to the anonymous letter. This article will be updated if and when they do.
