Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mini Livestock Visit ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’

Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger called into Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night, bringing along his cherished pets: a miniature horse named Whiskey and a miniature donkey named Lulu. Schwarzenegger was feeding the animals when he first appeared on video chat with Kimmel, who naturally had to ask a few questions about these unusual furry friends.

“They roam around the house,” Schwarzenegger explained. “They go upstairs, they go downstairs. They’re all over the place. They watch me when I work out and everything like that. It’s really fantastic.” He mentioned that both pets aren’t “house-trained” per se, but that they rarely do their business inside.

Getting onto the more serious topic of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Kimmel asked Schwarzenegger about his decision to stockpile masks and ventilators for the state of California during his term as governor, should a viral outbreak like this ever happen.

“It takes a certain amount of time and a certain amount of money to put this whole thing together and you have to be very thoughtful and know exactly what you want to go and put together,” Schwarzenegger said. “So we did it, and then it took about $5 billion to keep it up, to keep the storage and to keep it updated and everything.” He brought up the challenges of maintaining the stockpile during a budget crisis, but he believed at least some of it was able to survive and be used for the current pandemic.

Kimmel and Schwarnezegger also discussed the former governor’s conversations with current California Governor Gavin Newsom during this crisis, and later, Kimmel brought on Schwarzenegger’s old friend, actor Edward Norton, to talk about the Frontline Responders Fund that he and Schwarzenegger had just launched.

“Really good friends of mine are, on a daily basis, going into these incredibly intense frontline situations,” Norton said. “I’ve been worried about their health, and we were all hearing there was a critical shortage of gear to protect our doctors.” There were enormous shortages and delays in getting equipment to ER doctors during this crisis, and the fund was created to relieve some of those issues.
