Boney Kapoor talks about Maidaan

Maidaan is based on football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, under whose leadership the Indian football team won the Asian Games in 1951 and 1962.

Boney Kapoor, who is a producer of the upcoming sports drama Maidaan, recently hit headlines after he jokingly called director Amit Sharma his real son. He was present at the trailer launch of Maidaan at Mumbai. Speaking at the event, Boney was seen praising the director and jokingly called him his real son.

“Amit, I’ve known for quite some time. He’s my real son, and Arjun (Kapoor) is probably an adopted son. Ye Tevar se chala aa raha hai (He’s been with me since Tevar (2015), but of course, he gives me all the love as a son, and I try to do my best as a father. Kuch cheezen sahi ho jaati hain, kuch cheezen galat hoti hain. Jitni meri capacity hai uske hisaab se main kaam kar sakta hoon. Ab tak to ye khush lagta hai, kamse kam on the face of it” (Sometimes things end up well, and sometimes they go the wrong way. I can work according to my capacity. He looks happy as of now, at least on the face of it) Boney said.

Maidaan cast includes Ajay Devgn, Priyamani, and Gajraj Rao. The film is releasing on Eid this year. Ajay would be essaying the role of Syed Abdul Rahim to tell the story of this unsung hero who was responsible for taking Indian football to new heights and winning accolades for the country. The team at that time comprised of illustrious players like Chunni Goswami, PK Banerjee, Balaram, Franco, and Arun Ghosh.

Maidaan is based on football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, under whose leadership the Indian football team won the Asian Games in 1951 and 1962. The film was delayed multiple times despite the shoot being wrapped.

The film will clash with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s upcoming film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is all set to release on Eid. Meanwhile, Ajay will soon be seen in the supernatural film Shaitaan. It will be released in cinemas on March 8 this year.
