Collin Morikawa: How many majors will he end up with?

Collin Morikawa’s rise to prominence has been nothing short of spectacular since he exploded onto the PGA Tour a couple of years ago. At 24 years of age, he has the world at his feet, and he has already bagged two Majors.

The American has an insatiable appetite for winning, and he is the superstar that golf has craved. But just how many Majors will he wind up with come the end of his career? Well, we will try and answer that for you.

History maker

For some, trying to win Majors can be a burden. However, once you have unlocked the code, things start to fall into place. At Royal St George’s in July, Morikawa created history by lifting the British Open, and in the process, he claimed his second Major in just eight starts. In doing so, he emulated Bobby Jones, who achieved that remarkable feat in 1926.

To win two different Majors on debut is exceptional. Like Tiger Woods, Morikawa has joined an exclusive club by lifting the Open, and the PGA Championship before the age of 25.

When you also factor in that Morikawa has had two top-10 finishes in other Majors, he has become a model of consistency. He is undaunted by the weight of history, and if anything, he thrives on it.

Chasing down Rory McIlroy

Morikawa is already halfway to completing a career Slam, and along the way, he will be chasing down his rivals. One of them is Rory McIlroy, who has been stuck on four Major wins since 2014.

For some reason or another, it hasn’t quite happened for the Northern Irishman. Perhaps the burden of expectation has proved too much for McIlroy. For Morikawa, he relishes the pressure, and while he won’t have a fixed target of the Majors he is aiming for, he is becoming a winning machine.

Wise beyond his years

Morikawa in golfing years is quite young, but he always appears to be a picture of calm on the course. He is a new breed of player, and he is fearless. He has also made key equipment adjustments over the past few weeks, and that has been telling too. There were times when he wasn’t quite striking the center of the ball, but that has returned, and he is a formidable force.

His iron play is a trademark of his game, and although he perhaps lacks the natural power of a Bryson DeChambeau or Dustin Johnson, Morikawa compensates for that with his unerring accuracy in and around the greens.

The complete package?

Morikawa is a supernova, and his star is continuing to grow. But how many majors will he win? It seems hard to quantify, although Morikawa will be around for some time to come, and he will always be a serious contender.

If he carries on at his current pace, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him get to double figures. At Betdaq, you will easily be able to locate odds for Morikawa when it comes to the four golf Majors, and he will usually head the betting. In the meantime, it is a case of watching this space to see how his career unfolds!
