Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Thursday released a poetic public service announcement in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. In a Tweet from Friday, Big-B shared a video of himself reciting a short poem, which he wrote to raise awareness about the lethal disease. The caption of the minute and a half long clip read: “Concerned about the COVID 19.. just doodled some lines .. in verse .. please stay safe”. While giving a splendid demonstration of his poetic skills, the 77-year old actor expressed to his fans that, people talk of all sorts of cures and remedies, but how do we know whom should we listen to. Some suggest odd herbs and concoctions while others tell you to stay safe at home. But the right thing to do is to not touch anyone without washing your hands.
In the viral video, Amitabh Bachchan introduces himself in his signature style, “Namaskar, deviyon aur sajjanon, hum hain Amitabh Bachchan”. He then goes on to say, “Idhar coronavirus ko lekar bahot charcha ho rahi hai, bahot nuksaan ho raha hai, sab log ghar hain aur ghabraye hue hain, chinta mein hain”.
He adds, “Aaj subah-subah humko bhi laga ki hume kuch boldena chahiye is par. Toh aise hi baithe-baithe chaar pankityaan likh di hain….”
Amitabh Bachchan suggests his followers to stay safe, like staying home, as well as addressing the myths – like kalonji powder and amla juice – that are doing the rounds on the internet.

Amitabh Bachchan’s message comes at a time when more than 75 people in the country have been infected by the highly contagious virus. The number of coronavirus patients in the country is 75, including the death of a 76-year-old man in Karnataka, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday. It includes 17 foreigners – 16 Italian tourists and a Canadian.
