Deftones Will Hit U.S. Arenas in 2025

The Deftones have been on the road nearly non-stop lately, but have mostly been hitting festivals — now, they’re celebrating their enduring, cross-generational popularity with their own headlining run through U.S. arenas this winter and spring. The tour kicks off Feb. 25 in Portland, OR, and wraps up April 8 in Boston, with stop at L.A.’s KIA Forum and New York’s Madison Square Garden in between. Mars Volta and Fleshwater will open the shows.

Before that, the Deftones will headline the fifth edition of their own festival, Dia De Los Deftones, on Nov. 2 at San Diego’s Petco Park. Their hand-picked line-up for the festival also includes Idles, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Duster, among other acts.

Twenty-four years after the release of their breakthrough album, White Pony, Deftones have nearly as young a fanbase as ever, with Gen-Z and even Gen Alpha fans finding their way to the band via TikTok and word of mouth. The band’s most recent album was 2020’s Ohms, and frontman Chino Moreno said in April that the band is deep into recording their next release.

In 2022, Sergio Vega, who had played bass with the band since 2009, departed and was replaced by touring bassist Fred Sabian — Vega said at the time that he had only been a contract member of the band and had been hoping for more permanent status. “It was clear there was no opportunity for growth for me,” he explained.

Deftones keyboardist Frank Delgado told Rolling Stone in 2016 that the band’s creative engine runs on a certain amount of creative confict. “That push and pull is what gives us our thing, whatever that is,” Delgado said. “We’re different enough that things rub a certain way. We like unnerving feelings, too. That’s the hard part.”
