Full Equipment: Top 11 Things to Bring to the Pool and Surf Park

Goggles are useful for those who are engaged in swimming and freediving. If you do not have 100% vision, then look for models with diopters in online stores like ProSwim. And in any case, pay attention to the anti-fog coating that prevents fogging of the lenses. Another important characteristic is UV protection, but in the indoor pool in winter you can do without it. But if you are planning a trip to the sea and want to take glasses with you, then it is better to take care of eye comfort in advance.

1. Swimsuit

Whether you’re getting on the board or planning to take a dip in the pool after a workout at the gym, a one-piece swimsuit will come in handy. Leave the split microscopic bikini for the holidays, and treat the pool uniform as serious equipment. Billabong Australia offers a huge selection of swimsuits with wide shoulder straps, the correct size, and tight fit will provide you with maximum comfort and will allow you not to be distracted by correcting the parts that have flown.

2. Swimming trunks

If closed swimsuits are more suitable for girls for swimming, then the opposite is true for guys – short tight swimming trunks, which usually look ridiculous on the beach, will be very appropriate in the pool. They dry quickly, don’t take up much space in your gym bag, and don’t increase drag in the water.

3. Boardshorts

It is most convenient to conquer the wave (albeit artificial) in boardshorts. Professional surfers will certainly pay attention to the durability of the materials from which the shorts are made, but beginners may well take any model for swimming – as long as it is long enough – below the middle of the thigh.

4. Flippers

Classes in fins help to include the legs in the work even more effectively. A monofin is needed to master the technique of swimming with a dolphin and develop higher speeds. We recommend that you consult with your trainer, who will tell you which fins are right for you.

5. Smartwatch

You can close activity circles not only on land but also in the water. Waterproof smart watches will help you track your heart rate, and at the same time calculate how many tracks you swam today and how many calories you burned on an artificial wave (Moscow studios promise that about 600 kcal is consumed per hour of surfing).

6. Beanies

No one in the world looks cool in a swim cap. But this does not mean that the hat itself cannot be stylish. Bright prints, textures or even a portrait of Darth Vader will cheer you up and remind you that playing sports should first of all be fun.

7. Wetsuits

In pools with a temperature of +28–29 degrees, a wetsuit is useless. But already at +24–25, spending more than an hour in the water may not be so comfortable. In addition, if you get into, say, wake surfing, then you will need a wetsuit by the beginning of the next open water season.

8. Surf poncho

This is a kind of hybrid of a bathrobe, towels and a personal locker room. A surf poncho is indispensable in cold weather. It will also come in handy when riding in a wetsuit, which is recommended to be removed as soon as you leave the water – this way you will warm up faster. By changing into a surf poncho, you will warm up much faster;

9. Nose clip

Nose clips are needed for synchronized swimming and freediving. And you can also take the clip with you to the water park and not worry that water will pour into your nose at the departure from the next slide

10. Socks

Latex socks are an alternative to flip-flops for those who are especially careful about hygiene. They can be put on even in the locker room and can be safely practiced in them in the water. A nice bonus: in these socks, you definitely won’t slip on wet tiles.

11. Towels

If you regularly engage in water sports, then it is better to get a microfiber towel – it takes up little space, perfectly absorbs moisture and dries quickly. And for those who look into the pool only occasionally, the usual cotton version is also suitable.

Little things that will come in handy when traveling

Some of these things are not directly related to surfing, however, if you have them at your fingertips, the rest will become much more comfortable.

  1. Sunscreen. It will need a lot. During surfing, the skin is exposed to strong ultraviolet radiation, which means that burns can occur.
  2. First aid kit. Under conditions of constant exposure to salt water, microabrasions do not heal for a very long time, and more often they even get worse. Therefore, Zelenka or another antiseptic will come in handy. And, of course, we must not forget about drugs for headaches, toothaches, antipyretics and other means.
  3. Balm for hair. Surfer girls should remember that salt water dries their hair a lot, so they need extra nutrition.
  4. Water bottle. You can accidentally forget yourself and throw a plastic bottle into the ocean. Under no circumstances should this be done. If you have a special bottle of water, beautiful and convenient, you will never throw it away. And its presence motivates to drink water as often as possible.
